What is Faith?  Faith is believing without seeing, taking for truth the authority of the Lord God without proof. Faith is knowing without a doubt, that we have eternal life through Jesus Christ, regardless of the condition of the body.

Hebrews 11:1 & 3   Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Everyone is born with a "measure of faith".  The test of life is to see if we will grow that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ or allow our faith to wither away and reject Him.

Romans 12:3  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man [all mankind] the measure of faith.

The Apostle Paul emphasized the importance of faith in God AND the importance of seeking God "diligently".  It is not by "good worldly works" that we attain unto righteousness, rather by faith.  (See God's Will & Good Works)

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Webster's 1828 Dictionary: DILIGENCE, noun [Latin, to love earnestly; to choose.]

1. Steady application in business of any kind; constant effort to accomplish what is undertaken; exertion of body or mind without unnecessary delay or sloth; due attention; industry; assiduity.

Brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure. 2 Peter 1:5.

2. Care; heed; heedfulness.

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23.

Hebrews 3:12

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Romans 1:17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Romans 9:31-33  But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.  Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;   As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.  [Many would not, and still will not accept Jesus Christ as God in the flesh - Jesus, the Capstone, is the stumblingstone.]

1 John 5:1   Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

1 John 5:13   These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Romans 3:22  Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Romans 5:1  Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Apostle Peter encourages us to diligently strengthen our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  We strengthen our faith in Christ by increasing our knowledge of God and revelation understanding of his Authorized Word, putting on the full armour!

Ephesians 6:11 & 16

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

2 Peter 1:5-8

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue [strength]; and to virtue knowledge [strengthen faith through knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Word of God]; And to knowledge temperance [be determined in your faith, solid, steadfast]; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Webster's 1828 Dictionary:

VIRTUE, noun vur'tu. [Latin virtus, from vireo, or its root. See Worth.]

The radical sense is strength, from straining, stretching, extending. This is the primary sense of Latin vir, a man.]

1. Strength; that substance or quality of physical bodies, by which they act and produce effects on other bodies.

   TEM'PERANCE, Temper

1. To form to a proper degree of hardness; as, to temper iron or steel.

PATIENCE, noun pa'shens. [Latin patientia, from patior, to suffer.]

The act or quality of waiting long for justice or expected good without discontent.

GOD'LINESS, noun [from godly.] Piety; belief in God, and reverence for his character and laws.

In his weakest form and at his weakest moment in the flesh, Jesus Christ defeated Satan by his authorized word.

Luke 4

And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. 5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: 10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: 11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

We need to learn by faith in Jesus Christ to take hold of the promises of God no matter what might come our way for by His Grace and Mercy we will soon dwell in the palaces of heaven. Trials and storms will come our way because Satan is out to destroy us, to destroy our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ if he can. For our faith to grow it must be tested. God allows us to go through trials not to destroy us but to strengthen us. Do not let Satan steal your faith, kill your testimony, and destroy your health.

Luke 10:19   Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and overall the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Mark 11:24   Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Matthew 21:22   And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Matthew 7:7-8   Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Mark 2:5   When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

John 8:36   If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
