In this parable and throughout the Old & New Testaments we learn the importance of God's Word.  The Anointed Word of God has been preserved for us unto the end and given to each generation. And as Christian believers we are to make God's Word the first priority in our lives and do our part to understand, protect, and carry it forward. 

 

John 1:1 & 14

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his Glory, the Glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

 

When we are born again we are like virgins in understanding God's Word.  We are to grow and mature in that understanding and become as householders in God's Kingdom.  Therefore we like scribes, are charged with taking all of God's Word (new and old) and sharpening our understanding of it.  Correcting our perspectives to fit to God's Righteous Word rather than to change God's Word to fit our unrighteous beliefs.

SCRIBE: To mark by a model or rule; to mark so as to fit one piece to another; a term used by carpenters and joiners.

When a carpenter installs a cabinet, woodwork such as base board or crown molding, they must work to fit the new piece tightly to the existing framework of the building.  You don't try to modify the building to fit the new cabinet. This is called scribing.  Making the new woodwork fit correctly.  Therefore as Christians we must work to shape our understanding to fit according to God's Authorized Word.  It is a SIN to modify God's Authorized word to our liking and then call it better than His Authorized Word or even to call it as good.

Many nominal christians today are guilty of accepting revised corrupt bibles as a replacement of God's Authorized Word.  They blindly accept these false doctrines as NEW and BETTER than what they perceive as OLD or archaic.  The Gospel Truth of the Lord God Almighty never changes, it is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  The Authorized Word of God is eternal!  God's Word doesn't get OLD or archaic, it only gets forgotten and must be restored by the Holy Spirit in the souls of believers.

Ephesians 2:19-22

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the Chief Corner Stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Psalms 119:105

Thy Word is A Lamp unto my feet, and A Light unto my path.

 

Psalms 138:2

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth:
for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Isaiah 33:5-6

The Lord is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.
6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure.

1 Thessalonians 2:13

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Revelation 22:18-19
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
