Salt represents enthusiastic (inspired, eager, intense) believers grounded in God's Authorized Word and filled with the Holy Spirit [Lord Jesus Christ]. These are God's Light in a dark world, doing God's will, witnessing, praying, and giving Jesus Christ the Glory for all things.  James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Matthew 5:13-16

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

"Christians" that lose or never develop excitement for the authorized Word of God, are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold.  They have no saltiness. They are slothful servants; inactive, sluggish, lazy, indolent, idle. Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.  Romans 10:2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

Another responsibility of Spirit filled believers, is to protect, defend and like salt, preserve the Authorized Word of God. When the body of Christ righteously preserves God's Authorized Word from generation to generation, He in turn preserves us for Eternity.

Psalms 12:6-7

6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Psalms 119:1-8  Walk in God's Ways

1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.
2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
4 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
6 Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.

7 I will praise thee with uprightness [honesty and integrity] of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.

John 14:21

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth [preserve, defend, and protect] them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Notice the King James spelling of "savour" in the Salt parable, which is close to the King James spelling of "Saviour" in Isaiah 43:11. "I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour."

The "i" in Saviour is the single "eye" of Matthew 6:22-23

22 "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!"

Notice also that with the "i", Saviour is 7 letters not 6.

If we refuse or reject our Saviour Jesus Christ then we deem him worthless.  However, it is we who are full of darkness and not worthy of His light.  Without salvation and proper interest in serving Christ, we are salt that has lost its savour, not good for anything, and will be cast out from heaven (second death)!  When we accept Jesus Christ as our Saviour the we find favour with God!

Luke 1:30
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

Revelation 2:11

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Revelation 21:7-8

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
