Many people today make a terrible mistake of thinking Christians are not to judge. "Don't judge" they say. The Bible clearly teaches the Lord expects us to learn how to judge righteously. We will need this skill for all eternity.

Remember Paul said did ye not know that you would judge even [fallen] angels (I Cor. 6:3) and even nations (Rev. 12:5)!

Judging righteously is important to keep us on the correct path, the path of the Lord Jesus. Judging righteously is not about criticizing or condemning others. We must use righteous judgement to distinguish truth from falsehood for our own sake first, then to help guide others. We must not be blind leaders.

1. To compare facts or ideas, and perceive their agreement or disagreement, and thus to distinguish truth from falsehood.

Thou shalt judge the people righteously Psalms 67:4.

Righteous judgement is based upon the Authorized Word of God. God's Word is the measure by which we must judge.

If we do not solidify our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by reading His authorized Word for ourselves, we are subject to the deception of popular opinion. The way of the "court of popular prejudice" is broad and wide, and most who follow it do so blindly. This is the downfall of many believers.

We must be sure not to learn by false doctrine nor use false doctrine to guide us and lead us. Accepting false doctrine as "good" is unrighteous judgement. Eve failed to judge righteously when she accepted the false word of Satan, and it caused her to doubt God's Authorized Word. Genesis 3. As a consequential result she was cast out of the protected realm she was in. Thus began her wilderness experience in the unclothed world of the flesh.
